Hi all, is there an idiots guide to setting up B3 on a server for BC2?

I understand that different usergroups have different id's etc, but I can't for the life of me work where I assign users to these groups...

Ive looked at the wiki and the forums and I still can't figure it out  Huh

You can either use Echelon or the !putgroup ingame command.

As Bakes said, !putgroup or Echelon, or an alternative is to use the DynamicLogin plugin, and create a group of the level you want by issuing a !createaccount. Then, people will be able to login with a password and username to get the privileges back (so you don't have the hassle to wait for your members to connect on the server, then having to !putgroup them, you can just send them a mail with their accounts details).

Remember that you must be a superadmin to use this command, for this, when you install the bot, you must connect ASAP on your game server and type !iamgod to get the admin rights (the first person to issue this command on your game server will get full superadmin rights, so be quick).

Hi again  Embarrassed

I just started B3 on our test server, logged in to that server, and immediately typed !iamgod

I am assuming that doing that gives no feedback saying something worked or failed?

Regardless, I then typed !time and go a msg saying I dont have permission to issue that command and that B3 is watching me lol

From that I can only assume that !iamgod did not work..... Huh

Making some progress (plus i realised i posted this in game specific instead of general support).....

But for those noobs also struggling, here is the basic way to setup as superadmin

login to server and via txt chat (in bc2) type:
!register  (and wait for response from B3)

then type:
!iamgod    (to get superadmin)

i am now assuming that when another member who I want to be another superadmin (or what ever group), I just ask them to !register and i type something like:
!putgroup playerName groupname

No, they don't have to !register, you can directly !putgroup them, and they don't even have to be connected at the moment you !putgroup them.

Ive updated the Wiki, please take a look at it :

Nice ! There even is a tutorial about DynamicLogin XD

Maybe we could add your link as a third-party ressource about Big Brother Bot in the wiki ? (other devs, what do you think ?)

Yeah, I install the Dynamic Login plugin standard with all B3 installs, so I created that tutorial to help. Glad you found them useful!

Nah, I don't mind. I have unlimited space and bandwidth with my web host.
