Hello all,

I saw your something about "/tell" command in my "b3.log" file. Bot can use "/tell" command to send private message to users. But, i can't use in normal or in rcon console. ("/tell" and "/rcon tell"  are not working.)

How can i solve this problem ? How should i use tell command?

Thanks.

Hey there, What program are you using to send the command? and what is the response to that command? That may help us get this working for you.

Hi Duc,

Sometimes i'm using ingame console to send command, sometimes i'm using "MiniAdmin" application on Win. desktop.. Whenever using "ingame console", i got a error message like "Unknown Command: /tell"..

Try not using the '/' so..

tell 26 "Hello there!"

Would tell client 26 the message. I use HLSW and do not put the leading '/' on. I do not know whether that is the problem or not but worth a try.

If you don't use "/" , your message is going like "CHAT" in CoD4.

I do not think in CoD4 you can use /tell, when I was trying to get this working (about 2 years ago if I remember) I could not get it to send the message.

What I ended up doing is using the telnet plugin, then send the commands through telnet.

Telnet plugin does not working on Windows Standalone version of B3. If you fix it, we can install and use with pleasure. Smiley

The only 2 reasons I can think of for tell not working are:

1. It not being used correctly (wrong entitynumber or incorrect use of the command altogether)
2. The rcon being flooded with B3-commands. CoD-games (and maybe all q3 games) have a limit of 2 rcon messages per second. All messages besides those 2 are being ignored. It should be possible to get through by typing it directly into the serverconsole. Try that.

Also, report EXACT syntax used and post the result of the "status" command.
