I wrote a tool to edit the configurations file without writing xml. It has a text user interface, so it can be used remote (for example via putty). You can edit the main configuration file, the configuration files of the plugins, and you can activate and deactivate plugins.

The tool has beta status.

Yes, you should. Perhaps there exists plugins with strange configuration files which cannot be handled by this tool. If you find one, please tell it to me :-).

Feature request: Web based version.

Here is how it would work...

You place a file in the b3 directory (conf and extplugins folder in that directory).
You visit a webpage and can edit the settings...

Ideally the webpage would verify your rcon password (read it off the b3.xml) before allowing you to save...

@Courgette: Thank you Smiley. Perhaps it's enough to start it from the windows shell as in Linux. Or you can try it with cygwin. But I don't know, since I don't program under Windows (except some Java programming).

@MordyT: I had the same idea. But I would use php instead of python for a web solution. Python has a nice and easy to use xml parser. I don't know if the parser of xml is usable for me or not. I have to check it. But it would be a complete new tool I think.

I was thinking of just using a web interface to your tool... meaning your tool (already posted), but a web interface that connects to the tool. That way you don't need a new tool.

Just a idea...

Nice project!

Only one remark: There is also a plugin called 'configmanager' which manages q3a gameserver configs... I would opt to change the name slightly so we don't get confused when the two are mentioned.
