Hi

I was just wondering if it would be possible to include more plugins in the default install. In particular, I'd like my plugins included Smiley but there are many more worthy of inclusion. Are there any requirements you have to fulfill? Is it done on popular vote?
I was just told to post, so here I am Smiley

Plugins in particular:
- NickReg (registers nicks so only the owner can use that nick)
- SuperAdmin (collection of tools that empower the admin)
- VotingPlugin (control who and what they can vote)

Another one that must be in the default is poweradminUrT... I really don't know how that one isn't there!

I don't have a final say, but IMHO native plugins should not be game specific.

Now that there are a lot of 3rd party plugins, it might be a good idea to have a website dedicated to them where one could search them by different criterions (game, version, popularity, vote)

I would agree with that, courgette.

I do think that maybe the XLR forum should be merged, or the forums changed about

I think that the default plugins should be that ones that every admin would want to use.

That is, the most popular third party ones (more than 5 servers running them).

Quote from: Plugins in order of popularity
xlrstats - 44 servers
ctime - 35 servers
chatlogger - 25 servers
spree - 20 servers
countryfilter - 14 servers
pingkicker - 13 servers
superadmin - 11 servers
configmanager - 9 servers
openbanter - 9 servers
statusftp - 5 servers
I removed all plugins that seem to be seriously biased towards one game or another (for example, no CoD (any game) servers run banlist, even though 63% of UrT servers do, and no UrT servers run antinoob. I have left in superadmin, even though 10/11 servers are cod4, it's still a useful plugin across all games. Banlist is useful only when the banlists cannot be automatically updated, and all major cod4 banlists update through pbucon, and antinoob is essentially the same as the weapon control plugin).
Should the login plugin be removed? I'd say definitely, since it is only meant for CoD2 which doesn't have unique ids, and even then only 2 cod2 servers run it. Because it's not used for its main function by 98% of servers (at time of writing) it seems to have only minor functionality.
I then filtered out all plugins which were not listed in the releases section:
Quote
chat

and we have our 'most popular' plugins list.

I would strongly recommend including xlrstats, ctime and chatlogger in the default installation, and maybe modifying pingkicker to merge it into pingwatch.

Same with statusftp and status, if statusftp could be integrated as an option into status, that would definitely be something that should go into the default b3.
