Hello everyone, I'm JariZ, A programmer, modder and overall huge B3 enthusiast
Let me start with someone calling the method here is 'hacking'
This is not hacking, it's just placing some extra files in your server directory.
How could that possibly be hacking?
The RCON plugin is fine and working right now, I will release it in a few days.
It runs on UDP, and uses the overall same format as the 'real' rcon from older CoD's.
Problem is the original developer of this addon, the logs.
They aren't as advanced as the real CoD logs and only provide basic things such as connected and say.
I've been encouraging the developer that he needs to add this as well in order to port B3 for MW3.
I'm pretty sure this will be added eventually.

Anyway, what I mean is that this is probably the only way to get B3 on MW3, so why not try it?
I'd suggest you guys to keep looking at this addon, because, like I said, It's probably the only way to get B3 on MW3.

While I don't have a problem with this addon, the only way B3 will even get a thought of a remote port is if it has a working rcon protocol (which you say it now has) and if it has working log files.

When that happens, if a developer of B3 (or someone else) wants to work on it, they are going to need a test environment as well as it going to have to follow the guidelines here: http://wiki.bigbrotherbot.net/customize:parser:requirements

Thanks alot for those guidelines, those are exactly where i was looking for, I will notify the developer.

Here are the news about MW3 server addon and RCON tools:
MW3 server addon is improving very fast. More info: http://www.itsmods.com/forum/Thread-Release-MW3-Dedicated-server-addon.html and http://cod6hmod.itshax.com/mw3_addon/ (now Linux is on beta!)
RCON: new tool is being developed. It's still in alpha, but... Try for yourself. http://www.itsmods.com/forum/Thread-PlayerManager-beta-Advanced-RCON-tool-for-MW3.html or http://playermanager.org.

I think that's great news!

EDIT: Moderators, I want to inform you (if you don't know), that AlterIW is down. No more free play from them.

So is there any news on this? I submitted a log to Freelander, but he referred me to this post. It doesn't look like there's been any real activity here since January.

My admins keep bugging me about this. Any chance we're going to see an MW3 parser any time soon?

I haven't heard anyone working on this. Those guys should find a coder in their community, I doubt anyone would spend hours porting B3 to a game they do not play.

I can't imagine it would be much different than the other COD's. Since COD 4, all the COD titles have been based on the COD 4 code.

Isn't MW3 using a different rcon protocol then the prior titles?
If i remember right it was sort of a handicap that you could not really send commands to the server remotely, only directly from the server console. #modernwarfail

There is a remote admin tool for MW3 and there's a Server Addon plugin, which gives in-game commands and also generates the log file. The log doesn't report things like kills and objectives but it could still be useful for kicking and banning, and other administrative functions that don't rely on kills/deaths/objectives so if a B3 parser could be developed, that would allow for more flexible admin control, and would allow us to use Echelon to ban players or grant admin access without being on the server, which would be the biggest advantage over the current in-game rcon plugin for the Server Addon.

Here's the rcon program that can be run from a desktop with MW3: http://playermanager.org/#home

This is the in-game rcon tool: http://www.itsmods.com/forum/Thread-Release-SOURCE-Discontinued-Ingame-RCON-tool-Version-0-7-5.html

If anyone is interested in trying to work on this, I can send you a server log.

So I'm guessing no MW3 B3? And also I have 1 question for all the B3 coders.. if you don't play MW3 then why not just help out everyone else that wants to have B3 for MW3? I'm guessing it's just that the game sucks and nobody wants to even attempt to do anything for it? Anyway I hope you guys reconsider it since hundreds of thousands of people play MW3 not to mention the other versions of MW3 there is.

B3 is open source and as such anyone can start porting B3 for MW3 without having to ask for permission. We are also helping any dev who asks questions about B3. Also note that there is a quick tutorial explaining how to port B3 for another game.

How many people play a game won't make any difference as those are not customers.

Thanks for the information. I will take a look at this and see if it's something I can do. Just a couple notes about the wiki:

http://wiki.bigbrotherbot.net/customize:parser:overview has an error: Warning: Attempt to modify property of non-object in /home/deb32961n2/domains/bigbrotherbot.net/public_html/wiki/lib/plugins/pageredirect/action.php on line 94

http://wiki.bigbrotherbot.net/customize:parser:controlling_the_game doesn't exist: You've followed a link to a topic that doesn't exist yet. If permissions allow, you may create it by using the Create this page button.
