I have a fully working 3B install on a windows machine, works great runs a load of plugins, very happy with it

When I installed it I took the easy route .. WAMP and Windows standalone package for B3

Am now thinking of learning more about Python, so was considering changing the server to run Python and the B3 egg package .. but Dont want to loose the Stats and database or break anything

Is it as easy as backing up the conf and extplugins directories in the BigBrotherBot directory .. Unistalling B3 .. installing python and then installing the egg version of B3, replace the conf and extplugins directories and firing things up ?

Any one else done the change ?

Thanks

yes it's easy...

You can install  the package, prepare your b3 without uninstalling the old one...
transfert your extraplugins, your conf etc...

when your server is empty, stop the old one and start the new one  with python.exe

check if it works fine and that's all...

I prefer the Source Code Install over the egg one, it's a lot easier to find all of your files, and you can run more that one version of B3 easily.

The changeover method is basically the same for either installation type, so its up to you which one to use.

I agree on the source code method. I've always used it for my B3's and I think it's the best.
