I recently started using FireDaemon to run B3 but I've run into a problem. Sometimes after I stop B3 with FireDaemon, it seems it's still running, even though FireDaemon stopped it. I know this because if I try opening the B3 log, it says the log is in use. Also, FireDaemon will show that B3 is using no memory, so I know it's not running. If I try starting it on the desktop, it immediately closes.

Has anyone run across this while using FireDaemon?

Are you running it as an administrator?

I'm running it under an administrator account, logging in with remote desktop. OS is Windows 2008 64 bit.

What I am saying is for the Firedaemon program check under properties when you right click exe and make sure the option run as an administrator is checked.

As for the logfile being in use, I have noticed this on my machine as well, the only solution I have come up with is to just restart the bot so that it closes the logfile and adds a 1 to the end of the name and creates a new one.

The Windows account I an running it under is an administrator so the program defaults to being run as an administrator. The problem is that a "rogue" B3 is running when I try stopping B3 with FireDaemon. It's a B3 I have no control over. It continues to run, uncontrolled by FireDaemon. The only solution I can see so restarting the server it's on.

I did some more testing. I stopped B3 in FireDaemon. I checked the log file and I was able to open it, which meant that it wasn't being used by another process. I started B3 again in FireDaemon and I noticed that I am getting two messages at a time in game. I stopped B3 in FireDaemon and went back into game, no B3. I started B3 on the desktop and two messages are showing up again. Although I had problems where I stopped B3 with FireDaemon, then tried starting it on the desktop, only to be told B3 is already running, that does not appear to be the case this time.

So at this point I'm looking at a problem with the plugin_adv.xml file, possibly? Why would two messages be sent at once?

Seems that 2 instances are running in some way... Is there a service running already in the background?
I'm not familiar with FireDaemon, but two messages at the same time indicate this.

I'd inspect the task manager closely for duplicates.

Nope, there is only one way for this B3 to be running and that is through FireDaemon. I can't use Task Manager right now because I'm still closing up shop at PHS, so I still have a whole bunch of B3's running for other people.

Not sure you really understand the problem. I am not currently seeing two different B3's running. I stop B3 in FireDaemon, B3 stops. I start B3 in FireDaemon or via shortcut on the desktop, and dual messages are appearing. If I use that tool, all it's going to do is tell me the log file is in use by the B3 that I am running.

The problem of not being able to open the B3 log after stopping B3 via FireDaemon seems to have gone away for now. Maybe changes I made in FireDaemon fixed that problem, not sure, but the problem right now is dual messages.

Just to show more evidence that only one is running (right now), when I connect to the server, I only get the personalized welcome message once. If there were two B3's running, I'd assume I'd get two welcome messages, right? Also, if there's already a B3 running from one folder, then it can't be started again. Very strange.

Not necessarly. I happen to duplicate a bot, changing the game server ip:port + rcon on the duplicated b3.xml but forgetting to change the b3 log file location. I had two bots for two different servers writting to a single b3.log (trying to anyway)

Is it possible that you are loading the adv plug-in twice by mistake?

Nope, it turns out that setting the message time to 300 seconds, it causes two messages to be sent at once.
