Hi,

Where is the server name and country configured in B3?  We're currently being reported as being based in the USA when we're actually in the UK.  I cant see any configuration settings in the b3.xml file so I was wondering if it was somewhere else

Thanks
Toffees

I think the masterlist uses the IP of the gameserver to show the country (using a GeoIP.dat file) but I could be wrong. Best wait until a dev (I suspect Courgette is in charge of that) can verify this.

Ain't it using the location B3 is hosted instead of the actual game server?

Nope. My UK gameserver shows in the UK despite my B3 bot being hosted in the US.

Just taking a shot in the dark here, but maybe the time zone setting in b3.xml affects it?

Would it be hard to add a field in the b3.xml to specify the country where your server is located? IP isn't always accurate.

It would still be time consuming for a feature that would bring not much value to B3.

Hmm, my BO server (173.199.64.91:3094) is flagged as US server, B3 was first hosted in the US then got moved to germany, the game server itself is hosted in the netherlands. Is this a special case then?

Your game server host would have to sort out the IP country, but it's unlikely anything can be done about it. When you look up an IP, it doesn't always have the right location.

It will probably correct itself once the location data used by the masterlist gets updated,
your server is correctly shown as being in the Netherlands by Domain tools.

So, the master list is using a geo location service to decide which country my server is in.  So why is my flag showing as the USA when its located in the UK and http://whois.domaintools.com/173.199.73.213 shows it as the UK?

I was also wondering where I change the name that the master list is reporting.  Is this controlled my B3 or simply the gameservers name we've set for it.

I think it gets it from the name reported by your game server.

IPs get shuffled around all the time, it can take a while for the location listings to get updated.  I'm not sure which list the master list uses.

Maxmind geopip database is now updated on the B3 master server. Hopefully data will be more accurate
