Hi guys,

is it possible to share the admin database between servers running the same game?  For example, I have 3 x BF3, 2 x COD7 and 2 x RO2.  Currently I'm running 7 x b3 databases and I have to remember to make sure if I add an admin I have to do it across all 7 databases.  Naturally this doesnt scale very well so is there no way I can have a single database for all my game admins that spans all game servers?

Thanks

You could have I db spanning multiple games, but:

1) It's going to get messy

2) It's not going to help your predicament, since each game will give the same player a different guid, therefore a different entry in the db, so you will still have to make them an admin for each game separately.

Well, for the CoD7 games, you can use the same database for both games since GUID is unique.

Same with BF3.

So you use at least 2 database - one for both cod7's and 1 for all bf3

I have no idea about RO2 GUIDs though..

I thought as much guys, but thanks for verifying it.  I can see how it could be made to work, but as you say Bravo, its going to get messy plus immediately become non-standard.  In order for this to work it would need a re-design from you guys (the dev team) in terms of the user/id hierarchy

Something for the 1.9 version :-)

I don't think you understand what Miramar and I are saying.

You currently have: 7 databases.
You can combine it down to 3 databases (as long as RO2 issues same GUID for every server).

It will slightly help as you will be able to change a person in cod7 database and he will be admin in all cod7 servers, a admin in bf3 will be admin in all bf3 servers, etc.

there will be NO possibility to get ALL games into ONE db...
ok you could add some more rows to the usertable like: codguid, cod2guid, cod4guid, steamuid etc...
but you have to set this info MANUALLY... because b3 is not able to know this data... or to complete this data correctly...

i also see no sense in such a setup...
one db for every game... with one or many servers in one db... it works so far...

got it?  Wink
