You need python-mysqldb, which allows python to communicate with mysql databases as well as mysql.

You need to make sure you install the correct version for your platform (OS) and python version.

That is the phpmyadmin page, all it shows is you have apache/php and mysql setup, you still need this: http://www.codegood.com/archives/129
