Extremely slow responses B3 & CoD4
« on: December 22, 2013, 12:06:59 PM »
Hi guys,

I have a client recently started hosting with me and we're having some serious delays with B3.
Initially the commands start working as expected, but then after a few seconds and some more commands the bot comes to a snails pace crawl.

The server is running promod 211 and is UK based.
It's a clean fresh installation and I have rebuilt it about 7 times now without success.

Here is a paste and obviously I've removed sensitive data.
http://pastebin.com/cd6Q1J0b

The client has also gone to the trouble of making a video which can be found here;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHEdN3wZHjU

We're using 1.9.1 with a new fresh DB, standard plugins, removed plugins besides necessity, basically B3 out of the box and we're not going anywhere.

Many thanks in advance and I hope you can spot something.
Echelon works instantly btw if I type spam in the chat.
Many thanks

Check that their log file is getting updated in real time, that is usually the issue with promod.

Hi mate,

Thanks will do..
They've updated the mod so we will try it with and without the mod running I suppose.

To be fair this is the first time I have ever encountered this on this severity, as such it's not something I can instantly put my finger on and say - it's this or that.

Hopefully the mod update and new GSP will sort this.

Many thanks 82nd mate and I hope you enjoy Christmas if you celebrate it.
Will let you know how we go.

Hi again,

We've tried with a different mod and again with Promod - still slow.
We can't even try it vanilla as the host doesn't allow it!?

I can't see the issue here and my only conclusion is that the real time FTP updates is simply too slow.
If this is a server issue or server config issue it is difficult to nail down as obviously it's not my server etc, even though the client has done a lot of changes and reinstalled.

The chat log registers the text *instantly* as does Echelon and the B3 logs, what then takes a long time to process is the actual display ON the server.

That is taking anywhere up to 25 seconds to even display a scream test  ::)   :P

I've been at this for almost a week and have pretty much exhausted all avenues I can, to test this.. I have even run B3 on a different machine = same result.

I have no more ideas as to what more it could be.

What IS worth noting though is this;

"with this host i knowing they host like 30+ server i play on regularly with b3 and the same promod version im using >< is why we chose them"

The only thing I can think of is a setting or an adjustment on the server.

I've had more clients since and two more this morning who are all using B3 on CoD and one BF4 with NO issues whatsoever -- I'm well and truly stumped this time.

Many thanks

Hey Glock! Looks like the game log file is not updated real time as Bravo says.

Have you already done this? http://wiki.bigbrotherbot.net/usage:game_configuration

If yes, try to watch the gamelog file and see if it's updated real time.

EDIT: Also check this topic http://forum.bigbrotherbot.net/cod4/slow-b3-commands-(all-of-them)/

Glock, you might be having this issue

http://forum.bigbrotherbot.net/general-usage-support/!commands-not-working-6353/

Towards the bottom of the thread is a replacement fypytail - could you try that with the latest daily build and see if that cures the issue?

The OP for that thread never posted back, so I have no idea if it helped or not.

Oh God... I've had this one before, I hope it's NOT the case  ::) ::)
Pain in the posterior that one is ^^
In fact I also mentioned this to the client because an old client had this very issue and eventually left the hosts because of it...

I've spoken again to the client via Skype, and they've said they've tried all possible solutions mentioned so far, so I've asked them to possibly reply here so we can get to the bottom of this as I have no idea really of what they've tried and haven't tried on the server...

Unfortunately all the methods in those posts have been attempted, except setting logsync to 3.

server.cfg

Code: [Select]
// Log Settings
set g_logsync "2"   // 0 = Off, 1 = buffered, 2 = continuous, 3 = append
set logfile "1"    // 0 = NO log, 1 = log file enabled
set g_log "games_mp.log"      // Name of log file, default is games_mp.log

custom_public.gsc

Code: [Select]
// logging (not likely to be changed)
setDvar( "logfile", 1 );
setDvar( "g_log", "games_mp.log" );
setDvar( "g_logSync", 2 );
setDvar( "loc_warnings", 0 );

promod_mode: custom_public

Hopefully the new plugin version will fix it for good, if that is what it is!
