Hello, I was wondering if would be possible to use B3 for Arma 2 Combined Operations.  So far, the current admin tools are not good at all.  Arma 2 does utilize BattleEye but that is terrible for detecting hacks and cheats.  Having something like B3 in place for admins would be a huge benefit.

Here is what is needed (from what I know). If the game has it, then it is possible..

1) Some sort of game log or 2 way RCON.
2) Rcon protocol doc
3) Server administration doc
4) Servers and games to test on/with.
5) A dev to code it.

Does it have 1/2/3 at least?

There is a game log, I will have to look to see about the Rcon protocol doc and a server admin doc.  As for testing, I can easily set up a server to test with.

could you please provide a game log showing :
  • the game server starting
  • first map loading
  • players connecting
  • players disconnecting
  • players changing team (and going to spectator is available)
  • player changing name
  • player changing class (if available in that game)
  • kills (with a few different weapons)
  • teamkills
  • suicides
  • some headshots
  • next round loading
  • next map loading

Also, if you could provide a list of existing admin tools for that game and links to their official websites, that would help a lot

I do have log files from the server, however, when I try to attach them, I keep getting a message that  says bin is full, please try a smaller file.  The file that I am trying to attach is only 55 KB.  Is there another way to send this?  I really don't want the general public to view this log because it does contain GUID's as well as other personal information to players unique ID's.

well, we always post information such as guid about players. Nick and guid are not a personal thing in my opinion. But another way is to upload the log to a webserver, if you have access to one, or simply to use file hoster like rapidshare. If you want it personal you can rar it and send the password to the b3 devs i guess.

the game log files for Arma 2 Combined Operations only shows player connecting/disconnecting with their name, id and guid.

Unfortunately this is too few info to have B3 support that game

@Spruehwurstheinz : guid might be sensible information for some games

Just to clarify, do you mean "too little information" was in the log (i.e. we need more activity with the server, probably with intentional execution of the various things like changing teams, etc.) or the game itself simply doesn't log enough information in the log?

I'm not used to AA2 but it seems that the game server does not expose game events such as team change, kills, etc by writting them down into the game log or through other mean.

Compared to other game server administration tools, B3 is different because it allows to do automatic administration tasks. This automation is only doable if B3 knows what's going on on the gameserver.

If the game only provides rcon, then other tools are more suited than B3 IMHO

With the way our Arma 2 server works, there is no team change at all.  We are running a co-op server.  The logs from our server do show player stats but not until after a round has finished. With the current rcon tool that I am using (which totally sucks) does show when a player makes a kill as well as when a player dies.  It also shows players GUID and IP address.  The game log file also shows a regular player ID as well.  If you need more information to review, I would be more the happy to send you a better detailed log file.

Unfortunately, no.  I am still looking through all the scripts for the game itself to find out where the chat comes into play because I would like to add a word filter.
