Would there be a possible chance of having B3 support for Minecraft?

I've seen in the forums that there are parsers already out (very few). So building another parser is possible.

The "ID" system it uses is by UserName only, since you must register to play.

It already has an "admin system" for adding/removing admins, and in-game chat "rcon" is one of the only ways to issue commands that I know of.

It's just nice to have support for Echelon and XLRstats to see what admins and players are up to.

  • Can the admin commands be issued from a remote console instead of from ingame chat ?
  • Could you provide the documentation for those admin commands ?
  • Can you provide an example of gameserver log file ?

Sorry I didn't reply in such a long time... (I thought I did reply Huh)

I currently do not run a server as this was a request for others that run servers.

As for your questions...
I know it is possible to send commands to the server remotely, but I have only seen custom-made scripts/programs/etc for that.
There is a catch to this. If the server is running without mods (vanilla), it uses these commands. If the server is running with mods (such as Bukkit), it has a vast number of additional commands.
As I said above, I don't run a server... (Maybe someone else here does?)

Minecraft is not a FPS game so there is no point having XLRstats for that game.
Regarding the administration of the game and Echelon, I see that the Minecraft community is very active at building admin tools and mods. I don't think there is a need (or place) for B3 here.

There is a place for XLR Stats, But I don't think the code is ready for all that yet.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZD_dvyLmJ1g <-- link to ctf / tdm mod (I do not have installed yet)

My server does not have PVP enabled so I can to give you logs about that as of yet.
As Mr.Game  said it would be nice to have, but I don't think is ready.

A few have wrote differnt "minecraft permissions" which seam to break every other update Notch puts out.
http://bukkit.org/ is promising and has a lot of cool things, but honestly from my point of view. It seams like its ran by a bunch of 12 year olds, that have no direction. When Hmod was going strong (I thing a really 14 year old wrote that) Minecraft was a lot easier to admin.

moral of the story, unless you know java & have lots of time on your hands (which I know you don't) at this time its not really worth looking in to.

I guess I can understand why there is no need for B3 at this time. I just thought it would be nice to have XLRStats for a player's obituaries list (since you can be killed by many different ways), and to have Echelon for a remote view of what the admins are doing on the server.

@ ryry46d9: Bukkit is still in development, as of right now they've only released CraftBukkit (which runs much smoother than hMod according to 3 server hosts/providers I know). It and it's plugins run off of a different core so your server core isn't touched (other than sending it data). They're main priority right now is trying to license Bukkit so it will comply with Mojang's licensing.
I just don't see how it's being run by 12 year olds Undecided

Bukkit is what the coders use to make the program
CrafBukkit is the outcome that the enduser runs

True it is a little lighter on ram usage, but I have way too many problems keeping permissions working and mods updated.

what I mean by "a bunch of 12 year olds" is there is no lets say leader ship per say
with Hey0 every one worked out of a centralized location , with the bukkit team you have to spend count less hours finding any info.
The whole complying  with Mojang's licensing thing is pretty much a joke to me, They are reading way too much in to all that.

I ended up giving up on the permission's and just white listing my server.
I have been hosting a server since October 30, 2010 with currently 18 white listed people that frequent that server.

If the B3 core Dev Team does decide to knock out some Java programing, I have a server you can beta crash test some code on Wink

Please guys, the B3 forum is not a place to have such a discussion. If you have complains to make about bukkit, please make them on the bukkit website.

Regarding B3 support for Minecraft, my opinion is the same :
  • this is not "our market"
  • promising projects are already adressing the issues you mentionned

This being said, the B3 code is open source, so if someone wants to adapt B3 to Minecraft, he can try. There is no legal issue with this.
