Hey all,

I am seeing some weird things going on that I cannot figure out.

From echelon:
Kick    Sunday, 02/03/2014 (19:18)    (kick only)    BANLISTED [KRH] 2.233.209.177

KRH banlist: http://www.clankrh.com/echelon/banlist.php

Config: http://pastebin.com/TkrGA5Ly

My only conclusion was that there may have been a banlist update and that IP is not longer in the list.
Closest thing on the current banlist is:
Quote
92.82.233.0:-1   // ale.ro    banned on  05/04/2013 (16:40), reason : WH (demo by Stevie) (by evil-Muuuuh)
82.233.173.0:-1   // SimonJacksonCM.    banned on  27/12/2011 (21:11), reason : autoaim + wh demor from Marri (by lammesnail)

Even if it were using those entries, that would mean that the plugin is only using one and a half octets... ???

Thanks in advance for any help.

as your KRH banlist config has
Code: xml [Select]
<force_ip_range>no</force_ip_range>
your conclusion seems correct

Hey,

It's me again...we still have a problem. The plugin seems to be using the first and second octet only.

From echelon (this is just one out of several):
PriimeX    Kick       Thursday, 06/03/2014 (14:54)       banlist    BANLISTED [B00BS] 79.211.77.27

Banlist: http://b00bs-clan.com/b00bs-clan.com-echelon/banlist.php

I reinstalled the plugin prior to this (yesterday) and this is the new config: http://pastebin.com/89f4JAXW

What can we do to fix this?

This is due to the line

Quote
79.211.0.0:-1   // Frontix3    banned on  08/12/2012 (16:37), reason : aimbot

in that banlist.

The banlist plugin is designed to match IP addresses the same way as the Quake3 engine does ; which is that ".0" matches for any number.

Yea I thought so too, but another admin asked:

What if we want to ban someone with IP 123.12.0.123. How do we do that?
Also if force_ip_range is set to no, would it still use the 3rd octet if it is 0?

Another thing, that previous one with KRH banlist was not an update, I actually had an old copy of the banlist and there was no change. So my conclusion that there was a change in the banlist update was wrong. This brings up back to the original post about KRH ban, how do we deal with that?

If there is anything I can do to make this problem easier, please let me know.

Thanks for all the help!

in that case the IP is not ending with ".0" so there is no wildcard stuff involved.
The IP has to end with ".0" or ".0.0" or ".0.0.0" in the banlist file to be considered a wildcard pattern.

normally you should have a INFO line in the b3.log file having all the required data to understand what's happening when an player's IP matche ones of the banlist.
Next time, make sure to keep a copy of your b3.log, banlist files and plugin config file
