Although we all know that B3 is not an anti-c.h.e.a.t software package, I would like to start to create a plugin that will prevent the obvious from connecting.

Before I start I want to collect as much information on how these hooks and programs reveal themselves.

Like in UrT connecting to qport 1337 is a good indication of a c.h.e.a.t or in CoD4 connecting with a non-valid guid...

If you know of any progs that do reveal themselves in one way or the other, please share your information here or send me the info by email (xlr8or[at]bigbrotherbot.net). If there is enough info to build a valuable plugin I will start working on one.

Let this topic not become a ranting place or collection of links to obtain c.h.e.a.t.s - those kinds of replies will be removed asap. Consider using email in those cases.

One of the more common ones (although not always) is name changing every few seconds to a name already in use on the server.
In a case like this, the cheater is trying to hide himself among other players by imitating their name

You have to be careful with invalid guids on cod4 since there are a lot of data errors in the communications between punkbuster and the server, so a lot of the time a guid with an invalid length will be because of that. I don't know if it always drops a whole character, or whether it can lead to characters being changed as well.

Mordy, check my github (pyr02k1). It has worked for me for almost 2 months now. The tempban duration isn't, but I'm running with permban and it works perfectly

I found: https://github.com/pyr02k1/NameChanger-Plugin

Looks solid...
From what I can tell, everything but the tempban duration in the .xml is working? Howabout tempbans for 12 hours (.xml says it is hardcoded in)?

I am very interested in this...

I'm going to fix the tempban tomorrow when I get off work. Just been tied up lately. I think it might be set to 12h already. I have one modification to the notify I need to upload as well (reports user id as well as slot). Should have it fixed and up tomorrow night marked as 1.0

Nope, I don't  think there is much demand for it, looking at the response the question generated. And the namechanger project is already available.
