nop, at the moment the plugin doesn't have a way to hide or change the data returned by the service.

Hi, I must revive this post xD because all my geowelcome installs aren't working. There is a problem with the plugin? or the ipinfodb site?

Someone has the same problem? Specifically I am using Urban Terror

EDIT: If you use !whereis,  the game shows "There was an error processing your command".

It seems the ipinfodb has changed its API?

EDIT2: "The old API will be disabled on Nov 15th 12:00am GMT. Existing users are requested to update their APIs as soon as possible" says in the website. May be I must get an API key and change the URL in the plugin?

Didn't know about this.

Will update the code accordingly.

same problem here, didn't get the key yet  :(

I'm adding some hacks to add an option to use a local database, though in this case the database needs to be updated manually.

Will upload an update tomorrow.

Don't worry, but I MUST report an extra issue...

May be some people is getting the same problem...

In my servers, nobody can connect!!!
the story is long, I thought was hacked or something xD

But b3 was kicking everyone.

Short story: I think some routine in the plugin causes a "access denied" for all the IP's because can't retrieve the data from ipinfodb. The workaround, disable the plugin. But that behavior is really weird, everybody getting kicked, including my bots xDDD.

What about using geoip (the system command). the database isn't updated recurrently but is a workaround. But the local database option seems better.

I don't know a lot of python, but If I can help you, contact me.

I hope the api keys will come soon xD

I fixed the issues here http://www.bigbrotherbot.net/forums/downloads/?sa=view;down=51

I'm also using a generic api key to avoid everyone to register its own (though you are free to use your own key if you want, just edit API_KEY in geoip.py)

Updated files where geowelcome.py (to fix the kicks when no info could be get) and geoip.py

Local database wasn't included yet, because I wanted to releases asap.

This version include support for memcache (read readme.txt to know how to set it up).

Thank you for your reports :D

My API key never arrived....

Many many thanks for

-Fix the kicks
-Fix the plugin
-Add memcache (wow, is a kind of proxy like squid but for objects! Sounds nice)

You're a great coder.

If you want your key just go here http://ipinfodb.com/resend_activation.php
Mine arrives in minutes after completing that form.

I just pulled the latest from the download section this morning and found a typo:

101218 20:08:20 INFO    STDOUT Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/home/b3/b3/conf/extplugins/GeoIP/GeoIP.dat'

but this should be /b3/GeoIP/GeoIP.dat according to your instructions
 or at least  /b3/extplugins/conf/GeoIP/GeoIP.dat

If your still working on this, Could you just make a entry in the xml file that allows the user you specify where the GeoIP.dat file is.
Like in my case I already have GeoIP.dat installed for xlr web stats, and it doesn't make sense to have more then one copy on the server.
