ok, thanks that clear things up for me. Another question: does Echelon read the pbbans.dat file and displays any bans in it on the public banlist or does it only read bans in the B3 database?

As you probably already understand I have alot to learn so hear are som more questions, hpe you have time to answer them Smiley

- How does B3 record bans, by GUID, playername, IP or maybe all?
- Do B3 kick/ban via Punkbuster or built in rcon?
- The command to build a pbbans.dat from the B3 databse, which is that? I looked through the commands in the documentation but were unable to find it.

Br and thanks for your help,

Jonas

1:  Bans are recorded using the Punkbuster GUID.

2:  B3 issues a pb_sv_kick or a pb_sv_ban command.  So yeah, it does everything through Punkbuster.

3:  I believe it is !pbbuildbans

Hi,

more of a request: when we ban from the echelon gui the reason for ban is always banned by webadmin() and the user is B3 even though people have their own echelon account. Is there anything that needs to be modified to make this the username and maybe enter a reason?

Edit 1
we have changed the Php so it will include the logged in admin who puts the ban in the reason field

Edit 2
We have changed the tool again to include a comments field, which can be mofidied from the webpage, this way admins can leave notes to other admins about a client (e.g. person known to be a teamkiller)
The comment will be followed by the echelon user who put the comment in.

That would be an outstanding addition.  It is hard to tell now why people were banned unless I force them to put in a reason.

Thanks... (noticed your hilights on IRC aswell... but I was not around for a few days)

Seems the changes you implemented need changing the core tables of B3. I'm not sure if it is wise at this point to release an echelon version that needs altering the core tables. With v2.0 around the corner it would generate too much questions that would blur the normal v1.1.0 installation method even more and I don't think we need those questions now.

Did you know there is a penalty category called 'NOTICE'? Those 'penalties' are ment to attach notices to players and don't lead to kicks or bans. Using those types of penalties (in the panalties table) would not need altering the b3 client table. I'd much prefer that route.

xlr8or did you get my latest version posted just now Wink

You should have the link in your irc maybe if not pm me.

Notice system has been implemented along the guidelines of B3 v1 with Notice and is visible on the echelon tool. Functionality on the website makes it possible to post comment from echelon

xlr8or,

After discussing the notice system and implementing it to be used either via web GUI or via game i modified the header and created a new sql query to only dump out the notices on a seperate page.
Now you can have one list of only notices with columns client id client name date added reason and adminname.

Check the download location I have provided you before. I think the notice system has been fully functional implemented like this for echelon.
