Thanks a bunch!

It might be better to move on with the intro discussion here. So I will reply here to your question on our forum.

Your question:
Nice video Aquarius! Excellent format.
Is this a preview version covering the !xlrstats command?

My reply:
Thanks!

Well...the !xlrstats is a well known B3 command. Everybody will recognize. To put more commands in the intro it will increase the length of the video, which I wanted to prevent. Intro movies can easily become boring. It is more eye candy and getting the publics intrest.

What I have done is:

At 0:04 seconds:
Check the scrolling games_log prints. B3 planets recording data to the database by orbitting around the prints.
In there I have put:
3:06 say: BigBrotherBot: !k UnknownPlayer
3:14 ClientDisconnect: 1
1:14 say: BigBrotherBot: !xlrstats

This happens pretty quick. Also everybody's eyes are fixed on the B3 marbles loool.

From 0:06 to 0:10 seconds:
Quick explanation on what B3 can do for your server.

From 0:11 to 0:10 seconds:
Command being typed and printed to the games_mp.log which then is seen by the B3 all seeing eye...processed and send back to the gameserver to reveal the result of the command.

From 0:24 till end:
Supported games, which is self explanatory.

I can always make more intro videos to cover other aspects of your service.
Most of my time was spend in making the background music. Always the biggest job.

Changes are possible ofcourse. It is a bespoke intro movie.

I actually got an idea...

During the B3 explanation:

I can make text appear with commands:

!k player
!scream (echoed 4 times in colour)
!xlrstats

In a way that it will not look too busy etc.

I am working on it.

Could you show that video to someone who is a game admin but never heard of B3 and see how he reacts ? (I myself only know admins who know B3 :P )

Sure...

I have posted this intro on our forum:

~cGs* Gaming Community

Some good responses there. People who responded, part from Pr3z, have zero knowledge about B3. Maybe I should ask the repliers if they now understand what B3 can do!?

I also published it on YouTube and Facebook (my accounts) for people to see it. I did turn off "comments" on the YouTube channel for various reasons. Maybe I shouldn't?

YouTube

I also published it on my own website.
So it is all over the place. I even got Google analytics on my website to see who, what, where and when.

Let the crawlers do the job. Hopefully soon you should see a spike or permenant increase in website hits etc.! This will confirm if the message was recieved. Or if it got publics intrest.

Very nice video presentation and well done Aquarius. I love it. I'm curious to know the answer of courgette's question actually.

I like your recent additions in the video. If you're planning to work more on this I'd like to give some opinions.

Like Courgette suggested it should be easy to understand by a game admin who has no idea about B3.

You can try to emphasize things that will attract admins such as:
- No need to give rcon password to everyone
- User groups with different levels
- Auto administration (censor plugin)
- Rotating server messages
- Easy in game administration (no alt+tab)
- Popular plugins like xlrstats and chatlogger and ability to extend the functionality with more than 100 plugins
- Free and Open Source
- Our excellent support forums :P

I know it's not easy to fit everything in a short video. I think adding speech would be a good idea.

Those suggestions are only valid if you're willing to work on this some more. Anyways you have done a great job already and thank you very much for your time!  :)

Thank you for your great replies.

I have just been in touch with Morgan Freeman.
He is willing to help with the voice recording.

In the meanwhile I could extend the length of the video a little bit to get a bit more information in there.

It is a bit of a task. I hope it will be worth it.

I focused on the ingameactions like censor, tk and kick commands and the backend responses in echelon.

Im not really satisfied with a few cuts and timings.

@HK I like it much better now. I also like the approach of the in game demonstration in this clip.

I like where this is heading, complementary videos... different angles.

I like both videos. Aquarius one make a nice teaser/advertisement for people who never heard of B3 while HelloKitty's one will suit better people wanting to know more about B3.

They complete each other IMHO.

Maybe if they are put on youtube, the first one could have a link to the 2nd one for people wanting to see more in-game usage

agree on that...before we go furhter: how do we combine it? where does the lines cross? guess I can leave out the supported gametypes and focus on some more/better ingame demos. So Aqua cando the advertising/animation while I only show ingame + echelon + xlr ?

I am still busy with my second version.

How to move on? Let us wait and see till I am done with this second version I am creating.

If the B3 community decides to have them merged then someone ought to get all designer files in able to do so.

Personally I think that merging the two is not the way forward.
