You appear to have a shorter than normal GUID, it is only 8 characters long whilst normally they are at least 9 characters.

In case it is just one digit being dropped, which can happen sometimes, I suggest that you restart the server and B3 and your game and try again.

If it still happens, look to see if you have this in the log file:

Code: [Select]
WARNING 'Missing or wrong CodGuid and PunkBuster is disabled... cannot authenticate!'

Just above it you should see a line with your GUID. If it is the same as in the log that you posted then open parsers/cod5.py and change line 59 from     _guidLength = 9    to       _guidLength = 8 restart B3 and try again.

I have exactly the same issue but only with a few users most of the generated are obviously more than 9 at 10 but we have a couple of users that we don't see any history for. Looking for the cod5 parser mentioned I have the win32 exe version of b3 so I can't see where the parsers live in this distribution

Unfortunately they live inside the exe file, so cannot be edited.

I'm not sure why it has taken almost 6 years for these 8 digit guids to show up, but I will post the edited parser to github tonight, and it should find its way into the exe version on the 1.10 dev version within a few days.

I think the reason being that since PB has stopped supporting Cod 5 World at War that there are more and more servers turning PB off as more and more players get problems connecting cause of corruption of local PB in game. Can 1.10 dev be used for WaW ?

You are probably correct, and yes it can.

It is still possible to get the pb files for COD5 from various places on the internet - pbbans has them for one.

We found that we were losing players hand over fist as they wouldn't come on the forum asking for help resolving the pb issue.  We have a link to an archive it too but after a lot of discussions we decided like others that turning of PB was the best option given we have a lot of admins and the support of B3 so we could admin the server fairly and consistently. Have seen the update posted and will trial it on the WaW server. Thanks for the quick turn around

Just an update on this I am currently running 1.10.0dev.daily217 which has resolved most of our issues, but we still have one of our regulars who are still not authenticating.

In the B3 log I am seeing at level 9

141012 16:39:56   DEBUG   'newClient: 21, None, Carduelis'
141012 16:39:57   VERBOSE   "RCON sending (217.163.10.78:28960) 'status'"

Status is returning

'21', 'last': '0', 'name': 'Carduelis^7', 'ip': '95.17.101.187', 'ping': '78', 'pbid': None, 'qport': '29419', 'rate': '25000', 'score': '0', 'guid': '6950733', 'port': '28960'},

141012 16:39:57   DEBUG   'Carduelis^7 found in status/playerList'
141012 16:39:57   WARNING   'missing or wrong CodGuid and PunkBuster is disabled: cannot authenticate!'

Any ideas? I am running the exe version so I don't have direct access to the parser

Can you check in the log and make sure that status returns the same guid (6950733) for him every time he connects?

If you can confirm that it does then we will reduce the codguid to 7 and that will cure the issue.

Hi

Yes, it's the same guid each time. making it 7 means the minimum number of digits it looks for in the guid to be valid?

No, the patch has not been added. Could you please also verify that the guy having 7 chars GUID is using an original copy of CoD? It seems strange to me that no one brought up this problem before

Try todays version of 1.1.0, available from here:

http://files.cucurb.net/b3/daily/

Version 1.4.1 of the COD5 parser checks for the following setting in the b3 section of your b3 xml:

<set name="guid_length">7</set>

to allow you to specify the minimum GUID length that you will accept in order to auth a player when not using PB.
