CentOS 5 problems with installing b3
« on: June 15, 2014, 04:22:53 PM »
Hello,
I have tried to install b3 on my CentOS machine using this guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4QUkwf2pXQ
I have done everything step by step (if it didn't worked like tutorial says i got it from somewhere else and it worked)
at the end (last steps) i got new errors when i start b3 (/etc/init.d/b3 start)
This is the problem:
Quote
/etc/init.d/b3: line 33: syntax error near unexpected token `then'
/etc/init.d/b3: line 33: `   if [ ! -d "$PIDDIR" ] ; then'
PIDDIR=`dirname "$B3_PID_FILE"`
if [ "$PIDDIR" -a "$PIDDIR" != "/var/run" ] ; then
  if [ ! -d "$PIDDIR" ] ; then
I used code on this website:

The script looks ok so far. Try this solution: install the package dos2unix and then do dos2unix /etc/init.d/b3. If I remember correctly this already happened to me and the problem was that windows a different character for newline, with respect of unix systems (so if you edited the script on windows and the you uploaded it on the server, this may be your problem)

Are you sure that there should be an apostrophe after then ?

The apostrophe is added by the bash console when displaying the error and it's not part of the script. I already checked the script syntax and there are no errors (some deprecation warnings but that's all).

Well the log is pretty clear:

140618 22:00:35   CRITICAL   "No module named MySQLdb. You need to install python-mysqldb. Look for 'dependencies' in B3 documentation."
