COD4\6 - Separate for ex. ak47_GL_mp from AK kills in xlrstats

Would it be possible to edit xlrstats so that;
1. If player kills with AK47_GL_MP, xlrstats would check that there is MOD_GRENADE_SPLASH printed into the log, if it is, it would be counted as ak47_gl_mp kill, and if there's MOD_BULLET instead of MOD_GRENADE_SPLASH, it would be registered as ak47.

I know this isn't hard to do for someone who knows python (probably can code it in minutes), but I don't even know where to start. So where should I start?

I have the code in my head but I don't know how to put it into the .py. I can ofc use MOD_GRENADE_SPLASH in the replacements but that will then count claymores, flashbangs etc. as tubes, right?
